GUSTAVO & JO WINERY

Our winery enjoys an exceptional location in the Galilee, where our crops produce grapes of exceptional quality, from which we produce wines rich in flavors and aromas.
Every bottle you touch is the result of dedicated work, influenced by my family's rich Romanian winemaking heritage and the new Israeli approach to winemaking.

My love for wine

It is hard to say when winemaking first entered my blood. I belong to a family with a long tradition
of producing wines and distilled products in Romania. My love for wine came from home. I
can remember that as a child of four I helped my father pour some wine from a barrel. We used a
pipe and inhaled the wine, obviously causing a degree of suffocation. I still hear my father
mumbling  Do not dare to spit out good wine
Maybe it was not so pleasant at first, but I remember well the pleasant feeling of mild intoxication
and saying, the strange ways of love.
The Gustavo & Jo Winery located in Israel Northern Galilee.
The knowledge for producing wines came from the variety of current information that is readily
available to all who are interested and have the will to study. The traditions come from extensive
experience and exposure to wine making. But most of all, it is the love for wine and the steps in its
production that form the basis for and produce the creativity necessary to produce fine wines.

An unusual location in the Galilee

We made sure to use the best materials, French oak barrels and modern production technologies, to ensure that every drop of our wine will be an unforgettable experience. Our goal is to produce wines that you will be proud to drink at parties, at family meals, or just on a relaxed evening at home.

The French Paradox

The French Paradox is a term used to
describe the observation that despite
consuming an apparently unhealthy
diet, French citizens have a relatively
low rate of cardiovascular disease.
This phenomenon has been attributed
to the French diet, which is high in
saturated fats and red wine, as well as
lifestyle factors like physical activity
and a culture of moderation. It is
believed that the antioxidants found in
red wine may play a role in mitigating
the effects of saturated fat
consumption.

The Grapes

The growing source of the grapes is critical to quality. The grapes come from the Golan Heights
and the Northern Galilee from different sections to reach a grape that produces the desired
complexity and the optimal natural balance.
In accordance with the soil, volcanic mixture or heavy clay soil, or chalk to get the required
minerality.

The Winery

The wines have been produced by traditional methods using the latest technology. All equipment
and the tanks during the process are made from stainless steel. Aged by using fine French oak
barrels.
The winery, located in the Upper Galilee, despite all the laboratory equipment and tests the
decisions made during the process are much more affected by the wine-maker experience and
the unique personal character that he desires from the specific variant of grapes. The winery was
established as a family winery in 1995. After the first year of production, we decided to investigate
the commercial potential. Daniel Rogov, a respected wine critic, wrote in 1997 it may be worth
thinking of as a micro-winery rather than a boutique winery. The current winery policy is to
produce only the highest quality splendid wines in small quantities.
